Description
The AFSI-01 retains the Ford Sync and R.A.P features when installing an aftermarket radio in Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles equiped with Sync. (Does not work in vehicles with factory navigation.) It includes an LCD displayfor Sync system status. It also supplies parking brake, revese and LSS outputs for aftermarket radios with built in navigation. The AFSI-01 is designed to retain the features of the Ford Sync system allowing for the replacement of the non-navigation factory radio. Included with the AFSI-01 is a LCD display to show the Sync system status and text information that is normally displayed on the factory radio. The AFSI-01 does not alter how the Ford Sync system operates, however the AFSI-01 will provide a 12-volt accessory with the retained accessory power (R.A.P.) feature, illumination, and for those radios that have built in navigation, parking brake, reverse, and speed sense (VSS) outputs. NOTE: Please read the Ford Sync manual that is provided with your vehicle on how to operate the Ford Sync system. The AFSI-01 does not alter the way the Ford Sync system operates, or the buttons that are used. NOTE: For proper Sync operation the aftermarket radio to be installed must have an auxiliary audio input. NOTE: The volume control on the steering wheel will still control the volume of the phone and voice prompts. If you want the volume control on the steering wheel to control the aftermarket radio, the use of the Axxess ASWI-X or radio specific interface like the ASWI-PS, ASWI-ECL2, or ASWI-JACK (all sold separately) would be required. APPLICATION NOTES * Vehicles with OEM Navigation or THX audio sound systems are not supported. * If your vehicle is equipped with the Audiophile sound system, which includes the sub woofer, you will need the Metra 70-5522 sub plug and the AFDI-5V 5 volt step down interface.
